A suspected prank turned into a great surprise for a Sunshine Coast woman who won $180,000.

The Maroochydore resident claimed the cash prize with a Keno Classic 8 Spot entry on Saturday.

“I still can’t believe it,” she said when an official from Keno called to confirm her winnings.

“I had no idea I had won at the time until my husband called me.

“Of course, I didn’t believe him at first, I thought he was pranking me.”

Her winning entry for Draw 230 was purchased at the Maroochy River Golf Club.

“We always use the same numbers,” she said.

“All of them have different meanings behind them.

“We also always play Bonus, so that really worked in our favour.”

In a Keno draw, 20 numbers from 1 to 80 are drawn. Players match the numbers on their entry to the numbers drawn for a chance to win. Keno Bonus gives players the chance to multiply their prize.

The woman said she was unsure how she would spend her winnings.

“It’s funny because I have such a busy week at work, I haven’t really had any time to process the win,” she said.

“I haven’t even thought what we will use it for yet.

“Once we have a bit of downtime, I’ll be able to properly celebrate and think more about how we’ll best use the money.”
