Sunshine Coast Airport and Visit Sunshine Coast have joined forces with Jetstar in a bid to entice more southerners to the region.

The airline is offering sale fares between the Coast and Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, providing a sunshine escape during the colder months.

Jetstar provides more than 80 flights to and from Sunshine Coast Airport a week, and the airport’s general manager aviation and commercial Scott Norris said the sale would further boost tourism in the region.

“It’s great to be partnering with Jetstar to provide affordable travel options to those who want to experience everything the Coast has to offer,” Mr Norris said.

“Now is the time take advantage of sale fares and explore the Sunshine Coast’s beautiful beaches, picturesque hinterland and incredible restaurants outside of peak travel periods – some one-way fares are cheaper than filling up your car with petrol.

“This sale will also give locals the opportunity to discover the attractions of southern states, including Adelaide’s renowned wineries, Melbourne’s football scene and Sydney’s vibrant events.”

Visit Sunshine Coast CEO Matt Stoeckel said the Sunshine Coast was a top spot for a winter getaway.

“With ocean temperatures around 25 degrees, it’s perfect to dive right in, plus we have a wide range of events that make the most of our attractive winter climate,” he said.

Jetstar’s executive manager of customers Jenn Armor said the Coast was one of airline’s most popular destinations.

“We launched 20 years ago with the mission of offering great low fares so our customers could afford to take off more,” she said.

“Our commitment to making travel more affordable continues to this day with one-way fares from just $49 in our latest Sunshine Coast sale.”

The fares are on sale for five days from today or until sold out. One-way prices to and from the Coast start at $49 between Sydney, $89 between Adelaide and $79 between Melbourne (Tullamarine). Fares and full conditions are available at Jetstar.com.
