Images of spectacular coastline and lush hinterland have filled Visit Sunshine Coast’s countdown of its top 10 Instagram posts of 2023.

The favourite spots included Coolum – which had three appearances in the top 10 – Mooloolaba and Kawana, as well as the Glass House Mountains as viewed through an airplane window and on a misty morning.

But number one was a bit of a surprise.

“Our top 10 is filled with beautiful images that really showcase the appeal of the Sunshine Coast,” Visit Sunshine Coast CEO Matt Stoeckel said.

“However, it was a winding coastal boardwalk with overhanging pandanus and an ocean outlook that absolutely captured the hearts of our Instagram followers,” he said.

@tomomi_aus_life took the number one photo that attracted over 2600 likes. I think everyone who saw it probably imagined themselves walking that path, with a beach towel over their shoulder, ready to relax and unwind with a dip in the crystal blue waters.

“It certainly makes me want to head to Dicky Beach!”

Social media was full of praise for the photo.

“Beautiful photo, you make me want to go there, too. Greetings from Sri Lanka,” wrote Travel.berger.

“Been there last week and it’s fantastic,” said grabthatrideaustralia, while heidiadams4 wrote: “My exact favourite spot to sit and have a coffee.”
