An iconic Noosa nightclub is set to enter a new era that will see it transformed into a “world-class cocktail bar”.

The Rolling Rock nightclub, which has been operating on Noosa’s Hastings Street since 1987, hit the market earlier this year.

The 530sqm site at 28/18 Hastings Street, commonly referred to as ‘the Rock’, was earlier this year listed for sale by Forde Property via negotiations for over $750,000.

It recently sold to Sydney operator Ken Woods for an undisclosed price.

With an extensive background in operating nightclubs and working in the hospitality industry, Mr Woods said he planned to make a “huge impact” to Noosa’s nightclub scene.

He said small changes had already been implemented prior to a temporary closure and rebrand in October.

This included to the music, the overall cleanliness of the premises and the professionalism and courtesy of staff and security.

“It is an exciting new venture for me and I plan to make a huge impact to Noosa,” Mr Woods said.

“We will continue to trade as the Rock for another four weeks.

“We will be closing for the whole month of October when will completely transform the venue and rebrand it into a world-class cocktail bar, lounge and nightclub that caters for all demographics.

“I want to become a valuable member of your community and I want to give this area a venue it can be proud of.”

‘The Rock’ is Noosa’s largest nightclub.

Forde Property’s Jessie Allen said the sale campaign attracted a groundswell of interest and showed Noosa’s competitive property market was continuing.

“The business sale campaign attracted multiple offers and proved that there is a great interest in Noosa and Sunshine Coast businesses from both local and interstate buyers,” Ms Allen said.

“We are confident with this level of interest Noosa is still a strong and competitive market.

“Having spoken to a number of Noosa businesses they are welcoming this change and we believe the new operators will be successful in filling the needs of the local community.

“We are excited to see the end result. This is something many locals have been waiting for.”

Mr Woods has not revealed any detailed plans on what the venue will look like once complete, but has said it would be “upmarket” but “reasonably priced”.

For more than 30 years the Rolling Rock has been Noosa’s largest nightclub and has seen countless patrons and DJs bring the space to life after dark.
