A “high-end” salon first established in England and reimagined by its owner in North Brisbane has reopened with a new and bigger offering.

An eight-year stint as a flight attendant learning the art of first-class service has helped lay the foundations for Samantha Jones’ successful career as the owner of hair salons in England and Australia over the past 14 years.

Ms Jones is the owner of Ms Monaco Hair Society, a newly re-established hair and beauty salon on the Sunshine Coast.

She said her new salon was the biggest yet, with the ground-floor tenancy covering 280sqm of Devcon Property Group’s HQ building in Sippy Downs.

“It’s been a massive journey for me after opening my first hair and nail salon in the UK back in 2009,” she said.

“I then moved to Australia in 2011 and operated a salon in Strathpine, which was just 48sqm, and another at North Lakes, which was originally 88sqm, but we grew so quickly we took out another tenancy to make it 180sqm.

“In 2018 I opened the first iteration of Ms Monaco at Sippy Downs, but it was hard for me to scale the business as the salon was just 68sqm.

“When the opportunity presented itself to take the ground floor of the brand new HQ building, I knew it was an opportunity I could not pass up.

“I just loved the design and shape of the building and the ability to work with the developer and my interior fit-out team from Farrago to create a space which truly reflects my style, personality and the high-end business I wanted to create for women to relax and be pampered. It really is a dream come true.”

The salon has a spacious interior with a soft pink hue where clients can relax with a barista-made coffee, wine or cocktail, which can be accompanied with snacks including a freshly made charcuterie board.

To help get into full relaxation mode, there’s also a scalp and neck massage before being whisked away by your stylist.

“This is high society at its finest. I wanted to take the importance of first-class service from my experience as a flight attendant and I knew there was no reason why we couldn’t create a luxury destination for women to take time out, relax and be truly pampered,” she said.

“We have created a beautiful space to enjoy with our clients. We currently employ 12 staff with the goal of staying in our lane and growing our hair cut and colour, as well as extension, business – and not be side-tracked with add-on beauty services such as lashes, facials and nails.

“We currently have between 80-100 clients come through the doors each week and I believe we can double that number because we have the staff and chairs to meet that growth.

“We also want to build our membership base which offers clients a range of exclusive benefits. There’s definitely an opportunity to grow this market as our clients come from across the Coast as well as Brisbane, Bribie Island and Gympie.

“Sippy Downs is an ideal location to grow the business as it’s central to the Sunshine Coast and an easy drive for clients from the north side of Brisbane.”
