The region’s newest KFC restaurant has officially opened its doors, creating more than 60 new job opportunities for a growing Sunshine Coast suburb.

While the team was celebrating the soft opening of KFC Aura on Friday, they will continue to celebrate its grand opening over the weekend.

Owned and operated by Collins Foods, the latest KFC store is led by Tyrone Lebeter, who has risen through the KFC ranks over the past 10 years.

Mr Lebeter has been a restaurant manager for the past two years, working across many stores around the Coast.

Cailem Leembruggen and Lachlan Buchanan have stepped into the roles of assistant restaurant managers.

Mr Lebeter said the Aura team was delighted to welcome local KFC fans.

“For locals who want to get their hands on the Colonel’s delicious Kentucky Fried Chicken from the comfort of their home, delivery will be available from late August,” he said.

Mr Lebeter said the new restaurant would provide opportunities for the new team members to develop skills in customer service and teamwork.

“As they progress in their role, they will gain self-confidence and develop the life skills they need to succeed, both in and beyond their career at KFC,” he said.

He said the company sought to nurture personal development by offering both in-person and digital training initiatives to help team members.

“We’re thrilled to welcome 62 new team members into the KFC family and to provide a significant number of jobs to the local area,” he said.

“We’re passionate about building a strong and confident team to ensure we provide both the best customer service possible and quality Kentucky Fried Chicken to the people of Aura.

Our culture fosters the growth and development of our people by providing opportunities that help them gain lifelong skills, confidence and friends. We’re looking forward to watching our new team members reach their potential.”

He said KFC offered all team members a training system that caters to every level within the business and is designed to help them grow during their time at the company.

Each employee begins with the orientation training before being paired with a team coach who guides them through a combination of online learning and in-restaurant training to become fully certified.

As employees progress in their KFC career, they are also offered opportunities to take on registered traineeships, participate in a range of initiatives and enrol in a KFC-specific Diploma of Leadership and Management curriculum.

KFC Aura is located at 4 Symonds Way, Baringa, and will be open every day from 10am-10pm.
