A popular Asian fusion restaurant has opened at a second location on the Sunshine Coast, with traditional and new offerings on its menu.

Junk, which was already well established in bustling Ocean Street at Maroochydore, has also opened doors at Sippy Downs.

It’s located on the ground floor of the new Devcon Building Group’s HQ mixed-use building, opposite Siena Catholic College on Courage Street.

Owner Scott Hoskins said he was thrilled to be able to bring the Junk Asian Food concept to the growing suburb, which is a hub for families, the education sector and businesses.

The restaurant will boast an array of dishes.

“We believe Sippy Downs is quickly coming of age and has the right mix of residential housing, quality private and public schools, the university and a number of major employers, including Youi,” he said.

“We’ve brought something really unique to Sippy Downs.

“I think people will be really impressed with the interior design and layout. It’s spacious and contemporary and the lighting will set an incredible mood for diners.

“The ground floor covers 250sqm, which ensures we can provide a variety of table options for up to 150 guests seven days a week.”

He said there was significant interest in the restaurant from the community and there would be an array of offerings on the menu.

“Our bookings have exceeded all expectations and guests will enjoy many of the favourite meals from the Ocean Street venue along with some stunning new creations including barramundi jungle curry, sweet and sour pork and soft shell crab bao.

“We will also have daily happy hour from 3pm to 5pm including beverages from our six bar taps featuring all local and independently owned beers and ginger beers as well as a full range of wines and soft drinks.”

The restaurant has space, character and colour.

Junk opened its first Sunshine Coast venue at Maroochydore in 2014 and prides itself on providing its customers with a fast, fresh and affordable Asian dining option.

“We’ve come a long way over the past nine years,” Mr Hoskins said.

“Sippy Downs represents our new look and feel, and in the next few months we will be refurbishing Junk Ocean Street to ensure both locations continue to be among the best Asian-inspired dining destinations on the Sunshine Coast.”

Junk Sippy Downs is at 1 Courage Street. Bookings can be made for lunch and dinner seven days a week online at Junk Sunshine Coast.
