Well-known local sushi eatery Sushi Kibou has opened its eighth store on the Sunshine Coast.
Also known as Hikaru Sushi, Sushi Kibou started in the region in 2014 and has stores at Buderim, Beerwah, Warana, Kawana, Twin Waters, Birtinya and Baringa, as well as two each in Brisbane and Melbourne.
Now it has added another store, taking up the last remaining spot within The Alley at The Wharf Mooloolaba.
The Wharf Mooloolaba general manager Karen Hugg said she deliberately targeted Sushi Kibou to become a tenant within The Alley.
“We’ve watched the business grow across the Sunshine Coast and we thought we had the right levels of foot traffic as well as parking and a broad range of clientele who would support a quality sushi outlet within our precinct,” she said.
“We think Sushi Kibou is a great fit for The Alley and complements the existing offer of Kenilworth Bakery, Local Social Cafe and the Universal Games arcade. Each of these well-established businesses are locally owned and operated, which means everything they do is done with passion and purpose.”
Sushi Kibou founder and owner Rakhui Jung was happy to have opened the new store alongside other popular outlets.
“We constantly do our research and look for good locations with strong foot traffic and The Wharf Mooloolaba has become one of those destinations on the Sunshine Coast where people know they can get great food and be entertained seven days a week,” he said.
Store manager Ryan Geong said the store will have fresh Asian-inspired food available seven days a week.
“Fresh sushi and sashimi is our trademark but customers can expect more when they visit as the window is full of great treats such as Japanese rice balls, rice paper rolls, karaage chicken, sweets and ice-cream, and the hugely popular bubble tea,” he said.
