Determined, successful, inspiring. Those qualities shine through in 39 women captured in a moment in time for posterity.

The much-anticipated second edition of Women Inspired: Sunshine Coast will be launched on Monday, December 5, at The Dock in The Wharf, Mooloolaba.

Produced by award-winning Coast photographer Jaya McIntyre, from Empire Art Photography and written by Megan Krolik, the high-quality coffee table book showcases these amazing women’s photos and stories.

As creative director and principal photographer of Empire Art Photography, McIntyre is committed to empowering women of all sizes, ages and abilities through photography.

She has been photographing local women for 25 years and is also a passionate supporter of creative industries and small business owners in Southeast Queensland.

“I love creating a space for Sunshine Coast women to feel beautiful on location and in the Empire Art Photography studio,” she said.

“Bringing out their gorgeous nature and character traits through photography is what I do best.”

A chance meeting with fellow creatives Josanne Falla and Melinda Uys in 2020 led to the creation of the Women Inspired project.

“Prior to Women Inspired, I would listen to their amazing stories, too, and wish I could share them,” McIntyre said.

“When I met Josanne and Melinda and the Women Inspired concept which combined photography and the story came to life, I was absolutely on board.”

Women Inspired: Sunshine Coast is testament to the kinds of prolific changemakers, community leaders and entrepreneurs the region has to offer.

These women run the gamut of inspiration, from those at the helm of multi-million-dollar businesses and portfolios to community leaders, creative artists and those with hard-won recoveries from health battles, inner challenges and domestic violence.

They come from a diverse set of personal and business backgrounds.

Each woman is a beacon of encouragement for anyone seeking the motivation to reach for something better in their lives.

The launch event will include champagne, canapes, entertainment, the chance to meet and speak with a range of women featured in the book, and an opportunity to purchase a limited-edition copy.

Internationally renowned singer-songwriter Gemma Kirby, featured in the book, will be performing on the night.
