Scores of campers have been told to pack up and leave a popular beach, as part of a crackdown on hooning.
Sunshine Coast police have issued a warning that dangerous and anti-social behaviour on beaches will not be tolerated, following a busy weekend at Teewah Beach.
Officers attended three crashes, charged three people with drink driving, arrested four people for public nuisance, arrested three people for obstructing police and directed 80 campers to collect their belongings and leave the area.
The blitz essentially started on Friday night, when police observed a vehicle allegedly performing ‘doughnuts’ in the vicinity of campgrounds.

Officers intercepted the 23-year-old male driver from Loganlea, who allegedly returned a Blood Alcohol Concentration of 0.102 percent.
He was charged with driving without due care and attention and mid-range drink driving.
Police continued their crackdown on Saturday night and, with the assistance of National Parks and Wildlife Service rangers, directed 40 vehicles and 80 campers to pack up and leave the beach area.
Officers attended three crashes in which alcohol played a factor. One crash was due to a vehicle rolling over whilst performing ‘doughnuts’.
A noise direction was given to one large gathering after police received multiple complaints relation to disruptive behaviour and dangerous driving.
Police and QPWS remained in the area until late Saturday.
The weekend blitz followed a similar recent campaign, in which police put the clamps on school holiday beach hoons during Operation Sandstorm.
Police will continue to be out in force patrolling local beaches in coming weeks and have warned any dangerous or antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated.
Among those intercepted during the weekend were:
- Three people charged with drink driving.
- Two people charged with drive without due care and attention – 90 day number plate confiscation.
- Four people arrested for public nuisance.
- Three people arrested for obstruct police.
- Two infringement notices for defective vehicles.
- 17 Traffic Infringement Notices issues.
