A Baringa restaurant has been named one of Australia’s all-star eateries as the growing obsession for food delivery apps continues.

Corner Asian Cuisine was recognised in DoorDash Australia’s inaugural awards list, honoured as part of the top 15 Most Loved All Star Restaurants for 2022.

It comes as food delivery apps continue to grow in popularity, giving people the chance to purchase locally-made food from the palm of their hand, delivered straight to their door.

DoorDash launched in Australia in 2019 and as the convenience economy booms the list celebrated the top-rated, most reliable small-scale food business.

As well as the food itself, these awards recognised the DoorDash experience, including the condition it arrived in and how long it took.

DoorDash Australia general manager Rebecca Burrows said fewer than one per cent of restaurants on DoorDash qualified for the top 15 recognition.

“DoorDash’s 2022 Most Loved All Stars list celebrates our local restaurants that go above and beyond for their customers’ online orders, time and time again,” she said.

“We’re excited to showcase these restaurants and the incredible experience they provide to their customers.

“Customers have recognised this exceptional service in their local communities and we are so proud to shine a spotlight on the amazing work our neighbourhood restaurants are doing.”

The list was generated by analysing data from April 2021 to April 2022, where restaurants achieved ‘Most Loved’ status within the app for at least 10 months.

Opening in Baringa in January 2021, Corner Asian Cuisine specialises in Korean, Japanese, Thai and Taiwanese dishes plus a variety of drinks, including cocktails.

Owners and chefs Sylvia So Eun Hwang and York Yann Yow Chen have a combined 30 years’ experience and love sharing their cultures and cuisines with diners.

With a Korean background, Slyvia ran Korean Samurai (Korean and Japanese) for 10 years in the high-end Cremorne and Mosman areas of Sydney.

With 20 years’ experience, York, who is Taiwanese, has worked at Grand Hyatt Taipei and as the head chef at Spice Bar Mooloolaba.

“I am so glad that we are one of the top 15 in Australia,” Slyvia said.

“Good food and good service brought this good result to our newly-opened restaurant. It’s been a year with DoorDash and we are so happy to see this result.

“We will work harder to provide better food and service as always.”

Menu items include bao buns, gyoza and dumplings, with Korean marinated beef ribs, teriyaki tofu and Hokkien noddle dishes as mains.

Corner Asian Cuisine is open for lunch and dinner from Wednesday to Sunday at the Stockland Shopping Centre in Baringa.
