The Voyage of the Dawn Treader – The Musical

The wonderful cast of Sunshine Coast home schoolers, aged seven to 18, will steal you away to a world of magic, daring adventure and camaraderie. This musical adaptation of the well-loved book The Voyage of the Dawn Treader by CS Lewis will capture the imagination of young and old alike. Original music is by Australian composer Judith Clingan.

When: Friday, March 4, 6pm, and Saturday, March 5, 3pm.

Where: Landsborough School of Arts Hall, 485 Old Landsborough Road, Landsborough.

Bullhorn and the Steel Syndicate

A formidable nine-piece hell-bent on good times, armed with trumpets, trombones, saxophones, drums, the mighty sousaphone and the massive presence of Roman MC, Bullhorn have whipped audiences into a frenzy at venues and festivals throughout Australia and the Pacific. Hinterland Farm to Fork Experience

This tour takes you behind the scenes of farms to meet local producers, hear their stories and sample the amazing local produce of the Sunshine Coast hinterland. You’ll visit a local coffee roaster, two farms, with the final stop at Brouhaha Brewery and Restaurant for a four-course lunch featuring local produce. Up-Late: Post Artisan Jewellery Workshop with Rebecca Ward

Join Rebecca Ward to explore the exciting possibilities of material play in contemporary jewellery. Found objects, natural materials and post-industrial waste as contemporary jewellery inspiration will inform the process. Make a pair of earrings and a necklace during the workshop using sterling silver wire and other traditional and experimental materials. A wide range of materials will be supplied including laser middles and offcuts from the workshop of Russell Anderson. You may also bring along any interesting shells, metal fragments, string, plastics and other found objects that you would like to experiment with.

Meet the Artist: Feature Artisan Talk and Demo with Barry Smith

Meet local artist and feature artisan Barry Smith for a fun and insightful afternoon delving into his arts practice. Working with metal, wood and paper, Mr Smith explores themes of peace, stillness, social justice and the environment. Self-described as a “maker and re-maker”, he brings new life to salvaged objects – from silver trays and washing coppers to fire hoods and fallen trees. He will demonstrate techniques and tools, and guide participants through creating their own copper leaf to take home. All materials and tea/coffee refreshment provided.

When: Saturday, March 5, 11am to 1pm.
