Local dance studio Burlesque L’amour is set to host the inaugural White Lies fundraising dinner and show, to support local charity SunnyKids.
While a fun night is assured, there will be a serious message behind each performance.
The Warana-based studio has more than 350 female members who range in age, size and ability and they all share the same message, which is to feel empowered, confident and sexy.
Dance studio owner and event organiser Jordyn Clancy said the studio’s top 25 dancers were as talented as they were beautiful. These ladies will perform along with some male dancers who have recently joined the program.
“It’s going to be a great night with a superb menu and our hilarious host MC Vixen will ensure it’s going to be memorable by incorporating lots of laughs and audience participation games.”
Jordyn said the message on the night was one of empowerment.
“Not every dancer is confident enough to get on stage and every dancer has a story and sadly some of our dancers have been affected by domestic violence.
“It’s for this reason we have chosen local charity SunnyKids to be the beneficiaries of all profits from the night.
“One dancer in particular will be standing tall for fellow DV victims and will tell her story of fleeing a violent home with her young children. Together, they spent over seven months in a refuge so she knows first-hand the amazing work SunnyKids do in our community.

“It’s a poignant story and one which needs to be told as both men and women can be victims of domestic violence. The most important message of all is for everyone to be kind to one another and encourage and support each other,” Jordyn said.
