A leading community organisation has encouraged people to dress for royalty and come along to a special celebration.

The Buderim Foundation, which provides grants to local groups, will mark the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II ascending the throne with a luncheon fit for a queen.

Foundation Chair Dr Russell Stitz said people all over the Commonwealth were hosting events to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth milestone and the Foundation thought it would be a great opportunity to join the fun.

“The event, to be held on Thursday, June 2, will see attendees welcomed by a piper as they sip Pimms cocktails or a glass of champagne on the BWMCA War Memorial Hall lawn,” he said.

“There will also be an array of delicious British-inspired savoury and sweet treats to enjoy.

“We are encouraging people to come dressed for a royal occasion – so men, get your jackets and ladies prepare your hats and jewels.”
