While keeping people safe and responding to incidents in the surf is the main focus of lifeguards and lifesavers, they often come to the rescue off the beach.

This was certainly the case on the Sunshine Coast in the past week.

We saw two great examples with lifeguards attending resuscitations away from their usual patrolling zone.

The emergencies were at Noosa and Kings Beach and both were not water related.

Our lifeguards were able to attend and provide support to the people involved until the Queensland Ambulance service were able to take over and transport the patients to hospital.

In both cases, it was outstanding work from our lifeguard teams and we wish the patients all the best in their recoveries.

Weekend weather report

We’re looking set for another beautiful weekend on the beaches with fine and sunny conditions on the cards.

We should hit the 29C mark both days. There will be some decent northerly winds blowing though, which has the potential to make the conditions a bit unpleasant, particularly at the north facing beaches like Mooloolaba and Noosa. Kings beach will be the pick of the spots as it faces south.

The consistently small surf is set to stick around maxing out around the 0.5m mark.

The sun will be packing a punch with the UV rating heading to extreme again so make sure you’re generous with the sunscreen and bring some shade.

Our Under 11-15 Lifesavers will be in action at Maroochydore Beach competing in the Rebel Sport Individual carnival. Good luck to all our competing members.

Enjoy the weekend and if you’re heading to the beach make sure you, of course, only swim between the red and yellow flags!
