Sunshine Coast COVID vaccination rates have seen a modest increase over the past week, with pop-up clinics at the beach attracting good support.
There was a 3.6% rise in the number of local people to become fully vaccinated over the past week, and a 3.1% lift in first jab recipients.
The Sunshine Coast Council Local Government Area Vaccination Tracker showed that, as of November 1, 82.1 per cent of residents had received their first dose and 67.5 of Coast people were fully vaccinated.
State-wide, a total of 77.6 per cent of Queenslanders have had their first dose, while 63.87 per cent are fully vaccinated.
The “slip, slop, slap and jab” campaign that saw pop-up clinics at several beaches drew 1020 people.
A total of 271 were vaccinated at Aussie World and Australia Zoo and 1833 turned out at the region’s main hub, the Caloundra Indoor Stadium.
The surf clubs involved were Mooloolaba, Coolum Beach, Metropolitan Caloundra (Kings Beach), Marcoola, Maroochydore, Mudjimba and Sunshine Beach.
Mooloolaba Surf Life Saving Club officials said it was an excellent opportunity for club members and the broader community to receive their vaccinations easily and conveniently.
The Caloundra Indoor Stadium, in North Street, currently is the Sunshine Coast’s main facility for vaccinations.
It is open 9am to 5pm seven days a week and only delivers Pfizer, which is now available to anyone over the age of 12.
