About May 2009 when we were scratching our heads about what to do for our annual challenge. An American friend of one of the members sent the website of the Southern Carolina Quilters exhibits of "Artful Bras" that was created for Breast Cancer Awareness, to memorialise those lost to the disease, and to honour survivors. The members of both groups in the Northern Sunshine Coast Region were enthusiastic, and the ideas flowed, members then worked at creating a variety of comical and imaginative bras, which will be on display. Barbara Hawker, Tewantin Group leader approached Kelly Hart, the Health Promotion Officer at Breast Screen Queensland to discuss the idea. Kelly agreed to come and judge the entries. It was suggested that we could use the bras not only to promote the Guild, but also as a way of promoting awareness about the need for women to remain vigilant about breast cancer.

28TH AUGUST 2010 - Main Event will be morning tea at the Two Old Ladies Tea Rooms at 10.00 am. $12 admission. The fashion parade garments will be from Bev Menken's and Daphne Bickle’s collection. Bookings essential as seating is limited, members will have first priority. Door Prizes and Raffles will be available to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Support.

The Tewantin and Pomona Groups have regular program with a different topic each month. For the prospective new members, the groups are made up of enthusiastic people, with varying skills from the novice to the specialist. Members bring their sewing machines and lunch and in a friendly environment explore both basic dressmaking and decorative sewing techniques.
