POLICE on Wednesday night conducted a major traffic operation on the Bruce Highway at Glenview intercepting north and south bound traffic between 9pm and 2.30am. Officers from the Sunshine Coast District were supported by the State Traffic Task Force, the Roadside Drug Testing Unit and the Brisbane Dog Squad to target traffic, drug and property related crime. During the operation north and south bound traffic was diverted off the highway onto Frizzo and Pignata roads respectively. Police conducted at total of 1062 RBTs and 27 roadside drug tests. Seven drink drivers were detected (the highest recorded reading was 0.124%) and five drug drivers were detected. Five people were issued notices to appear for unlicensed driving and one vehicle was impounded. Eighteen heavy vehicle traffic infringement notices were issued. Six people were also charged on twelve other matters, including, three counts of possession of a dangerous drug, three counts of possession of a dangerous drug (exceeding schedule), and one count each of supplying a dangerous drug, possession of a restricted weapon and breaching bail conditions.
