SCRUFFFY is back!

by Sunshine Coast Regional Council
February 02, 2009
SUNSHINE Coast Regional Underground Film Festival For Youth (SCRUFFFY)

S.C.R.U.F.F.F.Y, a council initiative of the Youthlinx program now in its fourth year, is inviting budding young Sunshine Coast filmmakers to submit their short films.

S.C.R.U.F.F.F.Y is an Australia wide competition with $1000’s in prizes and showcase spots up for grabs, plus workshops and forums promising something for everyone.

Featuring an extensive pre-event schedule of activities, the festival includes the family-orientated outdoor ‘SINEMA’ screenings and a range of school holiday activities.

Aimed at improving the movie-making skills of young emerging film buffs, the festival is a creative outlet for Sunshine Coast young people, with elements included to encourage participation from across our community.

S.C.R.U.F.F.F.Y is now calling for entries for the festival’s five separate categories: Comedy, Animation, Short Narrative, Horror and X-treme Shorts (Extreme Sports).

Each competition is divided into under 18 and over 18, winners will be chosen from each category and overall finalists will be screened at the main festival showcase, with the chance to compete for the Best in Festival prize of $2000.

The film festival screenings will kick off in June 2009 with activities and workshops over the school holidays.
