SUNSHINE Coast Council Mayor, Bob Abbot will officially open the 10km Cooroora Trail tomorrow at 9.30am at the Noosa Showgrounds, Pomona.

The Cooroora Trail (Noosa Trail Network trail 5) links the towns of Pomona and Cooran making it possible to walk or ride from Pomona through to Cooran, Lake Macdonald and Kin Kin and vice versa along the scenic 95km Noosa Trail Network.

The Trail extends from the Noosa Showgrounds to the Cooran Rec Club. Along the way are views of Mt Cooran and Mt Cooroora, heritage signage informing of yesteryear and a changing landscape that passes through urban parkland, eucalypt forest, Gympie Messmate plantation timber and grazing land.

Unlike some of the other Noosa Trail Network sections, the Cooroora Trail is relatively flat!

The project is a joint venture between the state and local government, Sunshine Coast Council contributing $30,000 and the Queensland Government $20,000 to develop the Cooroora Trail to get more Queenslanders active through sport and recreation.
