Council announces executive team

by Sunshine Coast Regional Council
November 18, 2008
COUNCIL  today announced a range of appointments to its executive leadership team within the organisation’s new corporate structure.

Sunshine Coast Council chief executive officer John Knaggs said council has been operating on an interim structure since amalgamation.

“Since we opened our doors as the new council in March, we’ve been operating under an interim structure with many people across the whole organisation acting in positions on a temporary basis,” Mr Knaggs said.

“Council approved the new corporate structure in late September. These senior appointments under that structure mark the next stage of consolidating the organisation and gearing up for the challenges ahead”.

A panel comprised of the Chief Executive Officer, Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Councillors and an independent HR advisor conducted a closed merit process for these Executive Director roles in the SCRC corporate structure. Internal appointments from this process are:

* Greg Laverty – Finance and Business
* · Warren Bunker – Regional Strategy and Planning
* · Andrew Ryan – Infrastructure Services
* Lisbet Dean – Community Services
* Judy Bailey –Sunshine Coast Water

Recruitment and selection activities for the new Organisation Performance department will commence immediately.

Mayor Bob Abbot said the appointment of Directors to the new corporate structure is another important step forward for the organisation.

“We're putting together a quality executive leadership team that will work well with the Council and support the chief executive officer in building one, strong, successful organisation that the community and staff can be proud of.”
